The biobattery plant is a project developed by the Fraunhofer Institute that tries to make use of waste to produce electricity, purified gases, biogas and heat. It could seem to be a regular biogas plant. Nevertheless, its modular design makes it unique.
This plant can process more sources of waste. Otherwise, some sources would need to be specially treated in an expensive and inefficient way. Thanks to its flexible design, different origins of waste will be able to be included in the future.
The end products can be used in different ways: high quality oil for planes, biogas for CHP engines or biochar as fertilizer.
A pilot plan in Germany is currently processing up to 30 kg per hour.
