IKEA joins the wireless charging trend

IKEA has unveiled a new product family. All them include a Qi-charger station. Built-in different pieces of furniture designed by the Swedish company, it eases the way we charge our multiple devices.

Included in regular pieces of furniture such as tables or lamps, we will just have to put our devices above the ‘plus circle’. Within a range of 4 cm, it will work perfectly charging more than one device at a time. Moreover, it adds a USB connector to plug in another gadget.

In addition to this, IKEA is working in close collaboration with WPC (Wireless Power Consortium). Qi chargers are expected to provide up to 2 kW that would allow to ‘connect’ not only smartphones or tablets but also kitchen appliances or other uses.

If you don’t want to buy a new piece of furniture, don’t worry. You can install a Qi charging station on your own thanks to a pack sold by IKEA. All these new products will be available in Europe and USA by mid-April.

You can find more information about the products available in IKEA website.
