Pee Power: turning urine into electricity

Pee Power is an amazing project developed by the University of West of England (UWE). Thanks to microbial fuel cells, it can turn urine into electricity. This solution is a great opportunity for refugee camps.

In close collaboration with Intermon Oxfam, UWE has made a first prototype to be used by students in campus. The microbes feed on urine for its own growth. The system makes use of a part of the microbiological energy and turns it into electricity.

The microbial fuel cells are highly affordable: only £1 per fuel cell. Moreover, they are expected to last forever, making it a trustworthy energy resource. Next, you can watch a video about the project:

You can find more information about this project in UWE website.
