ThyssenKrupp develops a rope-free elevator

A new kind of elevator based on magnetic current engines is being developed by ThyssenKrupp. It is a revolutionary system similar to that implemented in the train rails. It will be built by 2016 in a building in Rottweil, Germany.

This new elevator promises to be faster, save more energy and need less space. It will be able to reach up to 5m/s. The break and acceleration system will be much more efficient thanks to the magnetic current engines and the space needed to install it will be reduced by 25%. Moreover, it can work both in horizontal direction and vertical one.
